A dream come true.
I have been dreaming of riding a motorcycle on a foreign continent for the past seven years. It was very meaningful for my life to be able to carry out this trip across six South American countries, touring the majestic scenery on a motorcycle that I cannot see in my home country, and to speak different languages and experience foreign cultures. I was able to spend exciting days. For various reasons, I was unable to bring my motorcycle with me and had to buy one locally, but Andes Adventure Bikes supported me at that time. Martin, who was in charge, was a gentleman and patiently explained things to me until I understood. Thanks to their support, I was able to finish the trip comfortably. If I have the opportunity to ride a motorcycle in Chile, I would like to use them again.
I could not have done it on my own.
On my recent trip to South America, I had a very good experience with Andes Adventure Bikes. Without Martin Gerhardt, I would not have managed all the formalities surrounding purchasing a bike in Chile. As I didn’t know him beforehand, I didn’t want to agree to the remote authorization procedure in advance. At first, I thought I might be able to do it myself. In Santiago, I quickly realized that the registration process is very complicated and time-consuming. He finally helped me to get the Voge 300 Rally authorized and ready to travel. I could have saved myself a hell of a lot of time with the remote procedure offered. I have come to know Martin as a very reliable motorbike companion and a competent business partner with integrity. Should I plan another South American tour, I will certainly contact him again.
Responsive, knowledgeable and passionate.
I had such an incredible time on a bike trip of a lifetime through Patagonia with my best mate, there is no way we could have pulled it off without the help from Martin. From the first contact Martin was responsive, knowledgeable and above everything else passionate. He went above and beyond to help us buy the bikes and then supported us throughout our travels with border crossings and eventually with selling the bikes. I could not recommend Martin and Andes Adventure Bikes more highly!
Highly recommended!
I cannot recommend going through Andes Adventure Bikes more highly.
Martin helped navigate the bureaucracy of Chile and sorted out all the paperwork needed to buy a new motorcycle, and further made sure that I had all of the paperwork needed to cross borders without an issue with the motorcycle.
Throughout, he was transparent about costs, highly organised and got everything done quickly so I didn’t have to spend too long in Santiago waiting for paperwork to process. As a traveller, he assisted with making the process of buying and later selling the motorcycle simple, helped organise motorcycle insurance in Chile and Argentina, and other necessities I wasn’t aware of.
Overall an excellent experience going through Andes Adventure Bikes, it was a far cheaper option than renting, and made my trip through Patagonia possible.
Exceptional Experience!
Without Martin, I probably would not have done my South America motorcycle trip. With his help, I experienced a very smooth and transparent purchasing process for my new motorcycle, as well as for the selling process. During my three-month trip, I had a very trustworthy companion in Martin, as well as helpful support for all my travel-related issues. I enjoyed significant support through Martin during my solo travel through South America and always valued his advice.
Thank you, Martin, for your professional and trustworthy relationship. Thank you, Martin, for making this possible!
Very professional service!
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Martin at Andes Adventure Bikes. I found him very professional. Not only did he help with purchasing a bike but also had useful advice and was quick to offer solutions if problems arose.

FAQ
Yes, absolutely. With your ownership documents and a necessary affidavit, you´ll be able to visit all parts of South America. Unfortunately, it is not possible to cross directly to Perú. You´ll have to make a small detour through Bolivia.
In general, it is not very common to have a foreigner leave the country with a Chilean motorcycle so there might be some rare cases on particular border crossings or with a grumpy official where you would face difficulties. Don´t panic! In that case we are happy to help via telephone or point you to a different border crossing, if all else fails.
While in theory it is not impossible to sell your motorcycle abroad, we strongly advise against it. The new owner would most likely run into serious problems when trying to move between countries. Also because of customs regulations, the motorcycle must be returned to Chile within 180 days (extendable by another 180 days).
As it is registered in your name you can sell it the way you want to any Chilean resident. In case you require help, we offer a Sales Service for a fee of 5 to 10% of the bike’s value. In some cases, we might be able to buy back the bike directly.
Unfortunately, there is no such product available on the market right now. It is recommended to only park off the streets and secure the bike with additional locks or even an alarm.
If you are planning to go on a regular annual vacation of two to six weeks, it is much more convenient to rent a motorcycle or even book a guided tour. We recommend a minimum stay of two to three months.
While you can use the motorcycle immediadetly after the number plate arrived, it may four to eight weeks until the ownership documents will be available. During the meantime the receipt of the regristation request and the original invoice are accepted in case of a police control.
