In 2021 I left my well paid job, my home, my family and friends to travel South America by motorbike. My goal was to get lost and dive into new cultures and the Spanish language. What was supposed to be a six month trip ended up taking about one year and a half. I arrived in Chile took part in an intensive language course and worked as a volunteer. In the meantime I got to know my girlfriend and decided to take her with me. We travelled all the way to United States, crossing 18 countries and covering more than 40.000 kilometers. We were riding two-up on my 2014 V-Strom 650 that I had brought with me from Germany. In total I spent close to 4000 USD to ship the bike to South America and send it back home. I had to transport it from and to the harbours and the shipping took almost two months each way. In conclusion for me the entire process was insanely costly, slow and was horrible from an evironmental view point, too. That´s why after my travels I came up with the idea to offer a service to make that type of journey more accessible and so I founded “Andes Adventure Bikes“.
